The exact date of its construction is unknown, but the Genoese made additions to it, which is why it is also known as the Genoese Castle. There is a tall tower on the castle’s southern ramparts and a cistern in its inner courtyard.
An information panel in front of the castle states that it dates back to the Latin Empire period.
