It is thought to date back to the Middle Byzantine period.
The rectangular planned cistern has 3 columns arranged in 7 rows.
The walls of the structure are plastered with waterproof plaster up to the beginning of the vault. The middle row of columns of the cistern was destroyed, and the two columns in this row were removed and replaced with metal supports.
Today, the cistern located under the Science and Art Foundation building can be entered with special permission.1
