It is located right next to the Şanlıurfa Museum, the largest museum in Turkey. It was found during the infrastructure works of the Şanlıurfa Municipality. It was completely unearthed with the archaeological excavations that were conducted later. The area where the mosaics were located was built to include Roman villas. Haleplibahçe Mosaic Museum also hosts the only mosaic depicting the female warrior Amazons mentioned in mythology. The mosaics depict hunting scenes of Amazon women, some animals and people. The mosaics depicting the warrior Amazon Queens are accepted as “the first examples of the world”. It is defined as the most valuable mosaic in the world by experts due to its mosaic technique, art and the fact that it is made of original stones of the Euphrates River with a size of 4 square millimeters and similar features.
