According to foundation records, the mosque, understood to have been built in the 16th century by Şemsi Ahmet Pasha, a descendant of Kızıl Ahmed Bey, has lost much of its originality through repairs over time. It has an ornate wooden ceiling dating back to the reign of Abdülhamid II. The rectangular mosque's main walls are built with four rows of bricks and one row of stones alternating. In addition to the horizontal rows of bricks, bricks were also placed vertically between the stones, enclosing the stones in brick cassettes. In the middle of the north facade is an entrance hall that appears to have been later enclosed. It has two-story windows: the lower one with rectangular frames, stone jambs, and blind arches, and the upper one with pointed arches and plaster gratings. Above the main door of the rectangular mosque is a Thuluth inscription in two stacked cartouches. “Ya mufettih-el-abvab, iftah lena hayrel bab” (O opener of doors, open the door of goodness for us) The phrase is written on it. There is a brick minaret in the northwest corner. It is covered with a hipped roof and has spiked eaves.1
