The Kefken Mosque is a 19th-century Ottoman mosque located in the center of the village of Kefken in the Kandıra district of Kocaeli.
It is believed to have been built in 1867. It retained its original architectural features until 1987; during repairs carried out by the village council in 1987, reinforced concrete additions were made.1 The original section of the structure is built of rubble stone masonry. Today, access to the mosque is through two doors located in the annex.
The interior of the mosque is decorated with colorful pen-and-ink designs on a white plaster background. The windows are framed by pen-and-ink borders featuring geometric and botanical motifs. The junction where the wooden ceiling meets the wall is adorned with inverted tulip motifs.
The minaret is attached to the original structure. In place of the original minaret, which collapsed during the August 17, 1999, earthquake, a single-balcony minaret rising from a reinforced concrete structure was built.
