In 2021, authorities conducted a surface survey and an excavation on the seabed of Kerpe Bay. During these excavations, amphorae and amphora fragments from various periods and types were discovered. Research conducted around the harbor and breakwater revealed that the site was in use as early as the 4th century B.C. Additionally, some architectural fragments can still be seen around the cove today.
