The first floor of the building was built by the French in 1924, and the second floor in 1926. It was opened as a Girls' College (Nun School). After the foundation of the Hatay State, it was named the 10th Primary School. After Hatay became a province of the Republic of Turkey, the school was named Mithat Pasha Primary School on September 1, 1939, with a decision taken by the Provincial Assembly. The first principal of the school was İsmail Hakkı OBEK.
