Our school was opened in 1918 at the Harran Gate, named "Nusretiye School" after Nusret Bey, the governor of Urfa. It continued education for two years before being disbanded. In 1924, it reopened as "Nusret Bey School" in a large classroom inside what is now the Tabakhane Mosque, with three classes. Towards the end of 1926, it merged with "İrfaniye" (now Cumhuriyet School). In 1932, following the closure of the boarding school, it began teaching in a derelict building under the name "Şehit Nusret" (Martyr Nusret School), and in 1955 it moved to its current modern building.

The building currently used by the school is alleged to have served as an Armenian orphanage between 1919 and 1921.
