Although the exact date of construction is unknown, it is known that it has remained in its current location since 1796. After being destroyed in the great fire in August 1817, it was repaired in 1818 with the financial support of the prince of Moldavia (Moldova) and then rebuilt in its same location in 1820 with the financial support collected from the Greek people of Istanbul and Epivates (Bigados).1
