The mosque, which is located next to the ward called Sofa Ocağı and the Mecidiye Kiosk, was built by Sultan Mahmud II. The mosque, which was repaired by Sultan Abdülmecit, has a square plan made of cut stone and is covered with a central dome. Its minaret has a round body and a single balcony on a cut stone base.

To reward me with the special gift of Enderûn
He built the Sofa Mosque, the servant of the Messenger of Allah
Pray to that magnificent ruler five times a day
The wise who see the good deeds of the Sub-Sû-be-sû are
I told Safvet and prayed for the date
May the temple of the honorable Khan Abdulmecid be accepted.
