Yunuslar Han was a Seljuk caravanserai located in the 13th century along the Kesikbeli-Kervan Road between Konya and the Mediterranean ports of Alanya and Antalya. It is reported to have been located near the village of Yunuslar, 50 km west of Konya and 30 km northeast of Beyşehir. The structure has completely disappeared today, and it has been determined that its stones were used in the village’s homes and schools. Although the exact location of the caravanserai is unknown, the area known as “han yeri” near the Hacı Yusuf Bridge is thought to be its probable site. During field surveys, arch stones belonging to the structure were found in some old buildings and wells.1
Kurt Erdmann visited this village and described what he saw as follows: “In the village of Yunuslar, located a few hundred meters to the left of today’s Konya-Beyşehir road, it is said that there was a caravanserai approximately 12 km west of the Kızılören Han (no. 9).” Sarre did not visit the village (1896, p. 111) but mentions ‘some monuments from the Seljuk period.’ Sterrett (1888, p. 190) notes that there are ‘ruined caravanserais along this road,’ but it is not clear from his text that he saw a caravanserai in Yunuslar as well. We were shown a large, completely looted pile of rubble in the center of the village. Cut stones and fragments of ancient structures are embedded in the walls of the village houses. The remains of the caravanserai may have been used in the construction of the school built next to the rubble heap in 1955, which was still unfinished at the time. According to the villagers, the caravanserai had a structure similar to that of the Kızılören Caravanserai (No. 9), which corresponds to the rubble heap."2
