A military structure built in 1912 for the defense of Izmir in the Balkan War and used until the 1970s… Battery position, underground ammunition depots attached to it, administrative buildings and dormitories…
In 1915, the enemy states that attacked Çanakkale by sea attacked İzmir in March 1915 in order to prevent the Gulf of İzmir from becoming a naval base for the Germans. The artillery batteries in Menteş (Çeşmealtı), Kilizman (Güzelbahçe), Abdullahağa Çiftliği (Narlıdere Fortress School), Bademlik (Sahilevleri) and Yenikale (İnciraltı) defended against this attack.
It was these batteries that caused the British ship HMS 30 to sink on 13 May 1915 and the French cruiser CASABIANCA to sink on 3 June 1915 when it hit our sea mines while maneuvering to avoid artillery fire.
After the liberation of Izmir from the Greek occupation on September 9, 1922, these batteries were put back into operation to repel any future attacks.
