It is believed that the mausoleum underwent restoration during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II. The courtyard is entered through a portal, which we believe has altered the original architecture of the structure. In the right-hand corner of the courtyard stands a single-room structure that we believe served as the caretaker’s quarters. Surrounding the mausoleum is a cemetery accessible by stairs. This cemetery contains numerous tombs with inscriptions and artistic value. Dating to the 14th century, the mausoleum has1 been completely renovated today. However, it is unknown when it acquired its current form. The single-story, rectangular-plan mausoleum is covered by a dome on the interior and a hipped roof on the exterior. The central section of the rectangular structure, which extends in an east-west direction, is enclosed by a square formed by arches projecting from all four sides at the upper level and is covered by a dome with pendentive transitions. The dome-covered central section has resulted in the elevation of the central portions of the building’s north and south facades, causing the facades to end at a higher level in the center and a lower level on either side. All facades of the mausoleum terminate2 at the upper level with a thick, flared cornice that widens from bottom to top.

There are several gravestones in the mausoleum’s garden. For example, the grave of Captain Hacı Burhaneddin Bey, Commander of the 1st Cavalry Reserve Regiment in Bursa, is also located here. The inscription was transcribed by Muhammet Erdi Gökyar.

There is no god but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
Oh, who is this (?)—I found no joy within it;
I fell into a hopeless sorrow (?) and found no way out.
My life has passed in this world, yet I never saw the face of health.
I came like a guest, yet I was not welcomed.
May the Fatiha be recited for the soul of the honorable Hacı
Burhaneddin Bey,
Acting Commander (Captain) of the First Cavalry Reserve Regiment in Bursa.
Year H. 1317, on the 1st of Rabi’ al-Awwal. (August 9, 1899)
